Man has been fighting since Cain slew Abel, and, doubtless, man will continue to fight until the world is no more. In modern day fighting, mixed martial arts have become very popular and, in fact, is a mainstream sport. For the most part, this sport is practiced without any weaponry; however, Martial Arts Weapons have been around for centuries and range from the bow and arrow to truncheons.

Today's martial arts fighters rely mainly on specialized gloves and hand wraps, but martial arts weapons are available in many Internet sales locations.

These weapons include the popular nunchaku , most commonly referred to as nunchucks. This consists of two sticks, generally made of materials such as bamboo, capped with metal and held together with a short length of chain - and a weapon not to be trifled with, particularly when wielded by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. It is interesting to note that in Japanese nunchaku means 'two section staff'; in Korean, it means 'boatman's staff'. It is a traditional weapon of the Kobudo weapons set in Okinawan martial arts.

Other popular weapons used in martial arts include Kung Fu swords, Escrima sticks, demo Kamas, Katana swords, and Japanese bo staffs. These fascinating Martial Arts Weapons come from all over the Far East. For example, Escrima comes from the Philippine Islands and the Filipino martial arts tradition. Many martial arts were taught by Chinese monks, who could travel from location to location with impunity.

Martial arts aficionados practice for a number of reasons. Many view martial arts as a serious sport; others get into the self-defense aspect. You may not be able to carry a gun everywhere, but your hands are with you always, so it makes sense to learn to use your hands as a weapon in your own defense. One thing that is universal among all forms of martial arts is self discipline, which can be very good for young children who need focus.

Whatever your motivation for getting into martial arts, you will need proper equipment, including Martial Arts Weapons. Whether you decide to have Nunchaku, katana, or demo Kamas, you will need to work hard to learn their proper use. It is also important for your personal safety  that you have adequate padding where it is required. Your sensei will know what you need. Take pride in your pursuit of martial arts, not only for your protection, but for the discipline that you will learn.
